If you take simulation theory seriously, then all forces and interactions would simply be algorithms and parameters. Distance is simply a parameter. That would also allow for time travel. If algorithms enforce the laws of physics, then there is probably a way around those limitations. All the recent talk about UFOs seems to have died down, but the various sightings over the past few years shows how alien craft can travel through space in ways that seems to violate the laws of physics. Maybe you can travel halfway across the universe in an instant if you can hack the algorithms and simply re-set a few parameters.
